This website is a personal collection of museums I have visited, both in New York City and across Europe. As I visit more museums, I will continue to add to this list. Hopefully the next update will be from East Asia!

I believe this to be an exhaustive list of the museums that were open in NYC in 2024. There are also some non-museums on the list (bridges, monuments, etc) that I felt were worth visiting and rating too.

Each museum is rated on a scale of 0-3, where:

  • 3 = Must visit, exceptional experience
  • 2 = Worth visiting, good experience
  • 1 = Interesting but not essential
  • 0 = Not recommended

Museums are ranked based on the following criteria:

  • Size of the collection
  • Way the collection is displayed
  • Cost
  • Focus of the museum
  • General Interest

For NYC museums, I have also included:

  • Inconvenience: A rating of how difficult it is to visit (0-3)
    • Distance/transit options from the Upper West Side of Manhattan
    • Hours that they are open during the week
