The Dataset
Everything on this site as machine-readable data: 562 museums (238 in NYC, 324 beyond) across 22 countries and 17+ cities, each personally visited and rated on one consistent 0–3 scale (methodology). Free to use with attribution to museumlist.org.

Full dataset as JSON. Normalized fields: name, rating (-1 to 3), rating label, location, city, country, cost in USD at time of visit, coordinates, review notes, year visited, canonical URL.

The same data as readable markdown, grouped by city and borough — one fetch for LLMs and retrieval systems. A shorter site overview lives at llms.txt.
What makes it different
- Single reviewer — every rating is comparable to every other rating.
- NYC coverage is believed exhaustive: every museum in the five boroughs, visited.
- Includes the negatives — 0 and -1 ratings are real visits, not omissions.
- Costs recorded at time of visit, in USD.
